Unfortunate...

*Sigh*

You know, every now & then EVERYONE does something stupid that they regret...it's just part of life.

Maybe that stupid thing happened because a person was in a hurry...or maybe they were FURIOUS, hurt & very angry...maybe they just weren't using their head and made a simple MISTAKE. However it occurs, it's always unfortunate.

Let me tell you a story...

Once upon a time, this sassy 18 year old girl got into her car...
she was LATE (as usual), she was distracted (I mean, her boyfriend WAS a hunk), she was driving WAY fast on a wet, curvy road...

out of nowhere, she realized that in her BIG distracted HURRY she didn't have her seatbelt on & she quickly buckled it up.

Exactly three minutes later,

she had a wreck.

And she walked away without a scratch.

Do you think she ever gets in a car without wearing her seatbelt now?
HA!
Let's just say they call me Seatbelt Drill Sergeant in these parts...

Here's another story
about that girl's hunk of a boyfriend...

One night, late...hunk of a boyfriend and his pals were out...it was a FOGGY night...and they were out on a DANGEROUS road. The pals were in the front seat and he was seated in the back, in the very middle so that he could lean up and chat. Distracted driving pal missed a very sharp curve in this fog...his car ran off the road and met head on with a telephone pole.

Luckily, these guys were all ok...
and hunk of a boyfriend DID have some injuries that required surgery...
but, without his seatbelt
he would have been thrown through the windshield...

Let's just say, these days they call him Seatbelt Drill Sergeant's husband...

Now, that you have a little
background information...

(and I did not even mention that "Click it or Ticket" LAW)

you can probably understand how I MIGHT dive off the flippin' deep end if I thought that one of these little people had been riding in a car WITHOUT their seatbelt on...even if they were just going 3 little miles down the road...

I regret..

that I did...

indeed,

dive off the flippin' deep end...

about that.

And, I apologize for that and for any hurt feelings that it may have caused.

However, I do not apologize for having rules for my children at my house...they may be about the food they are allowed to eat, tv/movies they are allowed to see (or not), books they are allowed to read (or not), manners, bedtime...or even seatbelts.

Those are my rules and they are my children.
Period.
And that's all I feel that I need to say.

Every now and then, EVERYONE does something stupid that they regret.

Me...
You...
Everyone.

The best thing to do is apologize and move on.
Don't let some unfortunate mistake eat you up on the inside.

Make peace and forgive...

life is way too short.

Happy Tuesday,

  1. As a mother it is so easy to question ourselves or feel guilty about how we may or may not being doing our job perfectly. However, there are particular things that we feel passionately about with our children and we never waver. From a mother to another mother, THANK YOU for being strong. They are YOUR children and you are doing what YOU think is best for them. Thank you for setting a positive example. It's not always the easy thing to do, but what MUST be done. Have a WONDERFUL day & feel good about the WONDERFUL mother you are!
